Doxycycline.

Doxycycline is an antibiotic intended for the treatment of infections caused by bacteria. Therefore, it is not going to treat viral infections (caused by the presence of a virus). There are special kinds of doxycycline that can be taken with milk – make sure you ask your health care provider about them. Take each dose with a full glass of water and make sure you take doxycycline at the same time every day to avoid missing doses. It's very important to take doxycycline regularly for you to benefit from the treatment as much as possible, as the medicine will then be at the same level in your bloodstream. Make sure you tell your health care provider about any medical conditions you have that may affect the success of your treatment, and report any medications you are using, such as over-the-counter vitamin and mineral supplements, minerals, antacids, blood thinners, penicillin antibiotics, cholesterol-lowering medications, isotretinoin, or tretinoin, to make sure no interactions occur. The following side effects are considered to be normal in the course of your treatment: trouble swallowing, sores or swelling in your rectal or genital area, mild nausea, stomach upset, sore mouth, vaginal itching, vomiting, diarrhea, and swollen tongue.
